Word of the Week: QUENCH
Right now, in southwest Oklahoma, it is hot and very, very, very, very dry. Was that enough verys? The grass is crunchy and the earth is cracking. It could use a long, tall drink of water. The deep thirst of the land is crying out to be quenched.
In the Sunday School class I teach, last week we read this strong word in Hebrews 11:34, "... quenched the power of fire..." I encourage you to read it in context, of course, but the writer is listing the heroic qualities of the men and women in this chapter.
What do you think of when you hear the word Quench? What do you hear? A sizzle? Rain drops that splat on the unforgiving ground until the drops turn to a shower and the dirt turns to mud.
You imagine that while I guzzle my Lime Coke Zero on this 101 degree day. Ahhhhh....
Wednesday in THE WORD
"Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105
What words are you reading in scripture right now that speak to you? Just this morning I read, "And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2 Corinthians 3:3
I want to be those kind of words -- a letter from Christ, written by the Spirit on human hearts!
