Welcome to A Good Word Wednesday.
Got the middle of the week blues? Well, you've come to the right place! This is where you find words of encouragement, help and hope each Wednesday.
Word of the Week: Anchor
In my Sunday School class a few weeks ago, we discussed Hebrews 6 and we paused when we got to verse 19: "We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain."
How comforting is that? Just imagine, you are on a stormy sea (I don't really want to think about that considering my aversion to deep water.) But if I were in that predicament, I would definitely want a big 'ole anchor to keep us from drifting out. How much more do we need an anchor for the soul in these unsteady days we are living? I remember my Daddy singing with his booming baritone voice the words of "In Times Like These", "I'm very sure, I'm very sure. My anchor holds,
and grips the solid rock..." So in honor of that scripture and my Daddy, I bought myself this beautiful necklace. It reminds me who my true and steady Rock is everyday, despite the chaotic weather. His name is Jesus!
UPDATE: Last week, our word of the week was Quench. And praise the Lord, we did get rain a few days this week in Duncan. Wasn't a drought-buster, but I may have sat out in the rain for a bit. It smelled, felt and tasted marvelous.
Wednesday in THE WORD
"Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105
What words are you reading in scripture right now that speak to you? This week, my friend, Shea Burrow, sent this encouraging word: In this grace, God is enriching every aspect of your lives by gifting you with the right words to say and everything you need to know. In this way, your life story confirms the life story of the Anointed One." 1 Corinthian 1:5,6 The Voice. Let your story be His story today!
