โAnxiety in a manโs heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.โ Proverbs 12:25
Good Word of the Day: Mission
Do you know why youโre here? Why did God place you on planet Earth for such a time as this? You may find your purpose in your work. On my website, I state clearly that,
โI desire to inspire you, a mission-driven Christ-follower, to sharpen your focus on undervalued, unseen people, locally and globally. I encourage you to meet people at the point of their pain and offer them a hope-filled future.
Thatโs my vision as I write and encourage you.
But thatโs just my work. I was also put here to be a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, etc.
As believers and follower of Jesus, what is our purpose? This is where we find our common mission. Itโs this:
ย โTherefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ย and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.โ Matthew 28:19-20
Right now, short-term summer mission teams are spreading out all over the world to serve people in need. Been there done that and took people with me. All over the world. Itโs a good thing. But the imperative in the scripture above is not to just go. It means, as you are going, make disciples.
Thatโs my mission. Thatโs your mission, should you decide to accept it. As we go, wherever God puts us in this world, itโs our job to make disciples. What are some ways we can do that? How do you make disciples as you go?
Wednesday in the Word
โFor if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your fatherโs family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?โ Esther 4:14 NIV
โAnd He said to them, โGo into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.โ Mark 16:15 NKJV

Good Unseen People
I wrote the following for Stories for Global Good and posted it a few years ago:
I eventually realized that my call didnโt change, even though my location wasnโt what I anticipated. I found people to serve right where I was. I found ways to serve in my church. I found writing on my laptop and using the internet meant I could send those words into all the world. I discovered the truth for the call to missions is about location โ serving right where you are; using Godโs gifts to change the world isnโt just about geography, itโs about saying yes to the path God opens before you, locally and globally.
So where am I? Right where God called me to be.
Where are you? Where has your journey taken you?

A Final Good Word
Imagine how brothers Peter and Andrew felt when Jesus simply told them, โFollow me, and I will make you fishers of men.โ What did they do? โAt once they left their nets and followed him.โ (Matthew 4:18-20) In an instant, their mission changed from catching fish to being the disciples of Jesus. And they followed Him everywhere. When did your purpose change? When did you know your life mission was to follow Him and make more disciples?
Thank you for reading these words. Iโm deeply honored to share this time with you each week. Iโm looking forward to sharing the next 100 Good Words with you!
This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: โWrite in a book all the words I have spoken to youโ. Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
