Good Word of the Day: Questions
Good teachers know that asking questions is a great teaching method.
God the Father asked Adam and Eve: “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9)
He asked the outcast servant girl, Hagar: “Where have you come from and where are you going?” (Genesis 16:8)
Jesus asked the lame man at the pool of Bethesda: “Do you want to be healed?” (John 5:6)
What are some other great questions asked throughout scripture?
Did God the Father and the Son know the answers to the questions before asked? Of course. He was trying to get the people to seek the answers.
My pastor has been teaching a sermon series this summer entitled, “Questions We’re Afraid to Ask.” One of those questions that haunt us is: “Why do bad things happen to good people”
I remember asking a similar question to my friend and She Is Safe coworker, Cherylann. She suffered from colorectal cancer. Of all people in the world, why her? She was active, ate healthy food, and did important work in helping abused and trafficked women and girls find hope. “Doesn’t it make you mad that you have this disease?” I asked her. She quietly and simply responded with her own question, “Why not me?”
Truly, none of us, even as God’s children escape the pain, disease and sorrow living in this lost world. (I wrote a story, She Suffers, that is in Unseen People. It is referenced below.)
What questions would you like to ask God?
Wednesday in the Word
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

Good Unseen People
A few years ago, I posted this story in Stories for Global Good. It is also included in Unseen People. Here is a bit of that story:
And ultimately, there was the suffering of Jesus for all of us. In comparison, none of us know the depth of His suffering. As we approach Good Friday and Easter morning, we will be reminded of what the passion of Christ looked like. But we can’t know it. He took the suffering on himself so we would no longer need to carry the weight of it.
He suffered for us all. And our suffering? It is brief. Momentary. And painful? Yes. But when He said, “It is finished,” He meant it. His suffering was over as will ours be one day.
We will suffer no more together. Oh happy day.

A Good Song/Video: This Is Our God This song starts with a question — “Remember those walls that we called sin and shame?” There are more questions in the verses. Take a listen to hear what they are.
A Good Book: Questions God Asks Us
A Final Good Word
Job had a lot of questions he could ask God. Why me? Why should I lose all I have. I’ve been a good guy. But sometimes, God brings circumstances into our lives so that we can see more truly who He is and who we are. God asked Job a series of questions:
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” Job 38:4-7
Again I ask you, what questions do you have for God? What questions does He have for you?
Thank you for reading these words. I’m deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: “Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.” Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
When I get to Heaven, I want to ask God how exactly He created the Universe. I want to ask to watch the video and for Him to tell me the astrophysics of everything as we go through the video of it. I do believe in a God orchestrated Big Bang, as in God used science as opposed to a simple "poof, there ya go" to create the universe; and I want to see and understand how He did it all. And I want to ask if He created other universes with other beings or just us, how the angels came into being, did Lucifer always have kind of an ornery bent even before he fell; if Lucifer and those guys fell back then, then can angels fall in the future when we're in Heaven? Also just random things like can we have things when we get to Heaven like hot biscuits, snowy nights and fireplaces, books, our old dogs with their same old personalities, etc.
(1) When aborted babies die, do they have some way of aging and are there saints that take care of them and nurture them?
(2) In Heaven, do we stop aging at about the age of 33 or go back to that age as that is about Jesus’ age when He assented up to Heaven after His resurrection?
