A Good Word Wednesday #108 HOME 🏡⛪🌍
A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday
“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” Proverbs 12:25
Good Word of the Day: Home
(Sign on the mantel in my daughter’s home.)
The introverted me loves my quiet, comfy, cozy home. I love being surrounded by my family and all the things I treasure. What do you love about your home?
This past week, during my book launch, home has looked and felt like this:
Seeing people in my hometown come together in one room to celebrate the book launch with me. As I spoke, I looked around the room at my own little family, at people who I have traveled with on mission trips, at people in my home church I share life with each week. I felt so much at home there.
I felt at home in my sister’s house as she hosted me at events in her community and church. I loved worshipping with her church family on Sunday. These are God’s people who made me feel so welcome and so much at home.
Of course, surrounded by family in my brother’s home, I felt welcomed and comfortable.
And at my school - Ouachita Baptist University, I felt like I had never left. The people and the atmosphere on that campus feel so much like family. It is like home even after all these years away.
But… this is home where I always long to be after days away. No place like it.
I have felt at home in many locations around the world with other Christians. The bond we feel transcends cultural barriers. We share the same God and that makes us family and makes me feel at home.
Ultimately, all of us who are a part of the family of God, will be gathered home in heaven forever. To be united with Him and those family members who have gone on before us. What a day that will be.
What is it about home that you treasure most?
Wednesday in the Word
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? John 14:1-2
“Then the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer came to his holy habitation in heaven.” 2 Chronicles 30:27 ESV

Good Unseen People
The following story is included in Unseen People. Read the original version here from Stories for Global Good:
Indeed, as comfy as snuggling into my chocolate brown rocker/recliner in my office is, or kicking back in my beautiful, cozy rocking chair on my deck while sipping my cold brew latte, it would be silly to compare those relaxing home locations to the indescribable holy habitation in heaven that awaits me. This truly is not my permanent home.

Here is my book launch schedule. TWO MORE UPCOMING EVENTS THIS WEEK: One is at a coffee shop in my hometown! I would love to see you at some in-person events. To my Atlanta and She Is Safe friends, stay tuned for upcoming events in your area during the last week of September.
This week’s video is a snippet from what I shared at the Book Launch Party. Episode 27: Book Launch Chat.
Have you read Unseen People yet? If you have, I would love for you to post a review on Amazon or Goodreads. This helps other readers to know if they want to purchase the book and helps Amazon know to continue to promote it. I’ve only received three Amazon reviews so far and the goal is 50! Please take a minute to post your thoughts— what you liked about it and a photo of you holding the book. THANK YOU!! Unseen People Amazon page
Good Words I Recommend
Last Sunday, I worshipped at my sister’s church, Calvary Baptist Church, Camden AR. I spoke in their two worship services. These were the perfect songs to complement what I had to say. I felt so at home in this church and with these people. Worship and Enjoy!
A Good Song: God So Loved
Another Good Song: Hosanna. I love these lyrics:
Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love
Like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am
For Your kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
Another Good Song: Made for More “I was called by name…”
Another Good Song: Living Hope “The King of King Calls me His own….”
NOTE: These songs are added to the Spotify Playlist. Please use these songs to enhance your reading experience of Unseen People.
A Final Good Word
My home church, First Baptist Church, Duncan, OK, is kind enough to let me lead a Wednesday night Discipleship group discussion through Unseen People using the Unseen People Study Guide. Please download yours for free and use it personally or with a group. I’d love to hear from you about your experience with the study guide.
Thank you for reading these words. I’m deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: “Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.” Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
