A Good Word Wednesday #109 FOCUS πππ
A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday
βAnxiety in a manβs heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.β Proverbs 12:25
Good Word of the Day: Focus
So much information is coming at us constantly β texts, emails, advertising, television, social media images, music, conversationsβ¦. So. Much. Noise. How in the world do we focus on what is most important?
Sometimes, especially for people like me, we want to hide from it all. Including other people. I am asked sometimes why Iβve written Unseen People. One of my answers is that it is so easy for us to hide behind a computer or phone screen or shut our garage doors, lock our door and block out the world. But thatβs not how God calls us to live. There are so many people who need to be seen. Heard. Loved. How are people to know that love of Christ unless they see it, hear it, and experience from us β the followers of Jesus? Our focus is always on Christ first. Thenβ¦ shouldnβt other people be next?
Wednesday in the Word
βYou have the fountain of life that quenches our thirst. Your light has opened our eyes and awakened our souls. May Your love continue to grow deeply in the lives of all who know You. May Your salvation reach every heart committed to do right.β Psalm 36: 9-10 The Voice
βLet your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.β Proverbs 4:25

Good Unseen People
The following story is included in Unseen People. Read the original version here from Stories for Global Good:
This I know. My number one audience is not people. Itβs God. Always. For Him alone I do what I do. Whether it is writing. Leading. Or caring for my family. I should live as if my ultimate goal is always to please Him first.

This is what people are saying about Unseen People:
This is a story of hope, and redemption and one of learning that you are precious in the sight of God. My heart was encouraged to know that itβs ok to slow down and take time to notice the people around you. Itβs good to give a listening ear to those who need to be heard. Maybe we are the ones needing to be heard and encouraged. We live in such a fast- paced culture that we feel guilty when we are not constantly doing something. We are convinced that we need to be busy doing, when in reality, we need to take the time to choose as Mary did, to sit with Jesus and learn of him. Itβs in these times that we are empowered to touch the lives of others just as the author in this book has done with her life. You will be encouraged throughout the pages of this book. βCanβt see the forest for the trees.β
βOne step at a time.β
What are some of your favorite quotes about keeping your focus?
Whenever my sisterβs world was turned upside down last year after the unexpected loss of her husband, all I could think to tell her was to take one day at a time. And then, that advice quickly refocused to β one minute at a time. Because, really, thatβs all any of us have. Right now. What is capturing your attention the most at this moment in your life? For all of us, I hope it is the light of Christ. Thatβs my prayer for you today. And then, that you will share that light and life with someone unseen.
Thank you for reading these words. Iβm deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: βWrite in a book all the words I have spoken to you.β Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
