A Good Word Wednesday #116 ONE

A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday

“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” Proverbs 12:25

GOOD WORD OF THE DAY: One

“One” is one of my favorite good words. In fact, this is my second post on this word. (Find the first one here.)

When I think of this word, I think of:

• My one favorite chapter in the Bible is John 17. I’ve heard it described as the unity chapter. Please take some time to read it soon.

• I think of you, the one person who comes to mind when I am at my desk writing. I learned early on when writing, to think of my reader specifically and write words that make a difference to you.

• During the years that I worked as the Director of Communications at She Is Safe, I kept a picture on my desk of one girl or one woman who is being prevented from danger or being rescued or restored from abuse or slavery. She was the unseen one for whom all the work was ultimately for.

  

• Who is the one person who immediately comes to mind when I ask: Who are you praying for today? Or, who is the one you most desire to come to a personal relationship with Christ?

• When I write, my audience is truly only one Person. “My number one audience is not people. It’s God. Always. For Him alone.” Who is my Audience?

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“…that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:21

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call.” Ephesians 4:4

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” Deuteronomy 6:4
