A Good Word Wednesday #121 BLESSINGS ๐ฆ ๐ก ๐
A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday
โAnxiety in a manโs heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.โ Proverbs 12:25
GOOD WORD OF THE DAY: Blessings
(Much of the following content was posted first here on Nov. 9, 2022. Iโm still enjoying giant helpings of Godโs abundant blessings mentioned below. How about you? Enjoy!)
As we continue this month of giving thanks, I remember as a child at my grandparentโs home in south Arkansas, we would pray a blessing before each meal and thank God for our food.
We were grateful for my grandmother's homemade chicken and dumplings and for fresh squash, butter beans and purple-hull peas from their garden. Mawma Bradford would say after one of us prayed, โYou prayed a pretty prayer.โ
Iโm hopeful our heavenly Father has the same response when we pray. In our fast-paced world, I think many families fail to pause and pray and thank God for His bounty on our plentiful tables. I believe teaching our children to be thankful to the Creator is one of the best things we can do for our family.
The truth is, we are all abundantly blessed with so many good gifts. Beyond the basics of food, water, clothing and shelter, we enjoy so much more. Family. Church. Creature comforts. So much.
I asked last week, I will ask again, what blessings are you most thankful for today?
WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD
Sources say the word โblessingโ appears 106 times throughout the books of the Bible. (In this post, I mention a form of the good word 22 times! I know you were wondering.) Here are a few scriptures expressing thanks, abundance and blessing.
โGive thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.โ Psalm 107:1 NIV
โThe Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.โ Psalm 103:8 ESV
โBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.โ Ephesians 1:3

I really like the personal stories of the people DeAnna met along her journey to follow the will God has for her life even when she was placed in situations that were way out of her comfort zone. This book is thought provoking and an easy read.
I am thankful for your kind words. I keep your words close to my heart and treasure your support. Please let me know what you think about the book! Please leave an Amazon rating and review here.

A Good Blog: Stories for Global Good
โAll I can say is, be aware of the passing seasons. You canโt hold on to them โ the weather or your children. But you can consider them blessings, even when the ride is rough and know that this too will pass. Another season will come. And it is good too.โ

A FINAL GOOD WORD
Whatโs your favorite thing about Thanksgiving? The food? Football? Family?
Iโm looking forward to a few days during Thanksgiving being together with my Oklahoma family. Itโs been a long time since I celebrated Thanksgiving with my family in Arkansas around my grandparentโs table. Actually, the kids had a separate table, and that was good too โ along with the turkey and dressing, pecan pie or as some would say with a southern accent, โKaro nut pieโ, pumpkin pie or as some would prefer, โsweet potato pie.โ Whatever you called it, it was all good.
Thanksgiving day is still a few weeks away. But itโs never too early to count your many blessings. I predict it would take you a very long time to name them one by one. But give it a try.
As always, share a good word with someone today.
You are a blessing to me. Grateful for you,
Thank you for reading these words. Iโm deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: โWrite in a book all the words I have spoken to you.โ Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
