A Good Word Wednesday #146 YOU

A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday

Quick! What are two or three words you would use to describe yourself?

1. ___________ 2. __________ 3. __________ Who do people think you are?

In the Introduction to Unseen People, I say that I’m 1. an introvert. 2. a writer 3. a coffee snob. But what I really want to be known as is a follower of Jesus.

During the years I worked for She Is Safe in Indonesia, I knew that most women and girls there didn’t know who they were in the eyes of God. When I would tell a little girl that she was 1. precious 2. chosen 3. loved, her eyes would light up and she would shyly smile at me.

As I am about to enter my birthday week, (Yes, I celebrate all week. More on that later.) I am about to be a “woman of a certain age.” I know that has multiple meanings, but for me, I’m entering the age of life when people like to retire and the government recognizes your big achievement. (Want to guess how old I’ll be?) I know it is just a number and you are as young as you feel and all of that, but it does make me stop and consider who I truly am and the value of life.

Jesus asked His disciples, “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16)

What about you? Who are you? Who does Jesus say you are? Who is Jesus to you?
