Word of the Week: Unafraid
Iβm not a fan of Halloween. I am a fan of Fall with the cool air, and colorful leaves and apple cinnamon candles.
(Sorry, not a big fan of pumpkin-flavored-everything. Itβs not my favorite.) I donβt like all the spooky, scary stuff that seems to swirl around in October. Not a fan of any Halloween movies, especially Hocus Pocus. (My husband knows this and asks me almost everyday this month if I want to watch it. The answer is always βNo.β) I do like βItβs the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.β
We live in a neighborhood where the streets will be heavy with little ghosts and goblins on Monday night. Hundreds of them. Two of my granddaughters will be among them. I do like the little children coming to my door and hollering βTrick or Treat!β Love seeing their little faces and cute costumes. (Donβt love it when I have to look upward into the faces of tall teenagers pushing their plastic Wal Mart bags toward me. But I give them candy anyway.)
Whatβs your favorite or least favorite thing about Halloween?
I donβt really like scary things at all. I have never understood the need for people to scare themselves intentionally, like riding crazy rollercoasters where you have to scream to survive the ride; or sneaking up on someone just so you can watch them react and then laugh at them (not that it has every happened to me.) This year the yard decorations are creepier than ever with skeletons rising up out of the ground and massive undead creatures looming in the bushes.
Itβs just not for me. If thatβs you, enjoy your holiday. Itβs almost here.
I prefer calm. Quiet. Peaceful. And not to be afraid.

A Final Word
November is almost here with my favorite holiday. Much more on that in the weeks ahead. I love the good words: Thankful, Grateful, Abundance, Blessings.
Whatβs your favorite holiday? Why?
Thank you for joining me. Iβm grateful. And as always, share a good word with someone today.
feeling kindred, sister. Love the little kids all excited on Halloween but not the spooky stuff. And Thanksgiving is a definite favorite for me as well. Of course the high holiday of Easter is up there, but it's more personal and reflective for me. On the other hand with Thanksgiving, I'm more expressive and engaging. Not really sure why:)
