A Good, Wise Quote
โIt is within my power either to serve God or not to serve Him. Serving Him, I add to my own good and the good of the whole world. Not serving Him, I forfeit my own good and deprive the world of that good which was in my power to create.โ
โ Leo Tolstoy
Good Word of the Day: WISDOM
Hi friend. Thank you for taking time on your Wednesday to stop by for a quick visit. I hope your week is going well. Grab your favorite beverage, get comfy and read on.
The last four weeks, weโve discussed some โWโ words that are actually wise habits to develop: Wait. (As in, being patient.) Walk. (As in, exercise often.) Water. (Drink plenty of it. Often.) Worship. (Daily. Privately. Corporately. Often.)
What are some of your favorite bits of wisdom youโve received or shared through the years? Please tell me. Iโd love to know so maybe I can grow wiser!
There are words of wisdom we hear through our lives like, โWhat goes around comes around.โ (It took me awhile to figure out what that really meant. Seems a bit circular.) We also hear: โTrust your gut.โ Andโฆ โIn a world where you can be anything, be kind.โ
There is, of course, much wisdom to be found in the pages of the Bible. There is actually a whole section called the Wisdom Literature. Do you know what books they are? You will find lots of wise words in the books of Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. One of my life verses is:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
ย ย ย ย and do not lean on your own understanding.
ย In all your ways acknowledge him,
ย ย ย ย and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
And Job tells us โ
โIs not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?โ Job 12.12 NIV
That statement makes me feel old and wise. And also, old and tired I am.

Words I Recommend
A Good Song: King of my Heart. We sang this last Sunday at my church. Love it. โYou Are Good. You Are Good. You Are Goodโฆ Ohโฆโ I think this is my new personal worship theme song. (Thanks Pastor Stephen for introducing me to it!)
A Good Book: A Woman's Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything
Another Good Book: The Eden Option
A Good Blog: This is from Stories for Global Good written in 2014, but it contains some nuggets of wisdom for today. Enjoy. Sing it again
Some of the words I recommend have associate links. All that mean is, if you click on them and purchase, I receive some support to continue this good work every Wednesday. Thank you in advance!
A Final Good Word
I am finished offering you good words that starts with a โW.โ At least for now. I know youโre sad about that. Next weekโs word is brought to you by the letter โH.โ Tune in next week for that. I am open to receiving suggestions from you! What good word would you like for us to use in the coming weeks? I would love to know!
Because you read all the way to the end, you get some extra good news. I donโt share a lot about my family here or share their photos very often, to guard their privacy. BUTโฆ I do have some good words about my familyโฆ Johnny and I will be grandparents x 5 later this year. My son and his wife are adding baby Sanders #3. (My daughter completed her family six years ago with two daughters.) We are thrilled to welcome another little one into the family and into the world. Pray for us to be wise grandparents. Any words of wisdom for us??
Until next week, share a good word with someone today.
Gratefully yours,
Thanks for these wise words from a wise woman! And for reminding me about โthe fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.โ I should have included that priceless gem!
Hi Emily. Lots of wisdom to be found in those books! And yea for a new baby! Yes, the world is short on Hugs -- human and divine!
About the affiliate links -- I just started that a few weeks ago. I thought, why not? I am recommending the books anyway, I might as well receive some of the funding. It won't be much, so we will see how it goes. Not a big deal. But thanks for noticing! Have a good day!
