Margin: noun
A limit in a condition or process, beyond or below which something is no longer possible or acceptable.
What does planning your calendar look like? Too much to do and not enough time? Or like this?
This one makes me hyperventilate. So many cars and not enough space.
Rob McClure, pastor at The Bridge, Mustang, OK, said in a recent sermon, “Margin is a gift to yourself for your future life.. It is creating room in life to grow… Even God took a day off.”
What scriptures do you think about when you consider taking time off? I’ve included a few in Wednesday in the Word below.
How often do you take time off? Do you take a timeout each day to enjoy life? Weekly? Monthly? Annually? What does that look like for you?
You know that this is my favorite place:
It’s where I like to go and meet God. I’ve included a link to a blog about that in Good Words I Recommend below.
Wednesday in the Word
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” Genesis 2:2
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30, The Message

A Final Word
Wouldn’t you know that writing a post about finding rest and building in time for margin would end up being a stressful day? That’s what happened to me as I’ve prepared this newsletter today. Technology didn’t work. Inserting photos didn’t work. Rebooting didn’t work. As I was writing this, our kitchen sink fell into the cabinet below. Literally fell with a great crashing boom. Thankfully a plumber is on the way.
One of those days. We’ve all had them. My husband reminds me that the world won’t fall apart if this newsletter isn’t perfect and not posted on time. The world will keep on spinning. I don’t have to save the planet. Not my job.
So for today, I’m done. It’s time for a walk. Then rest outside on the deck. And not do work. And savor a cup of coffee. I do hope you find rest for your souls today. Let me know how that works out for you.
As always, share a Good Word with someone today.
Gratefully yours, DeAnna
Thanks for reading it, Mary. Busyness is a problem for most of us! I hope you take some time to enjoy this beautiful spring day!
Hi friend, plumber should be here shortly. Hopefully it will be fixed soon and I will be back to washing dishes. Yay!
Take some time to sit and relax and enjoy this beautiful day. It is all good. God is good.
Thank you for your words of encouragement!
