A Good Word Wednesday #48 TODAY
A little bit of goodness in your mailbox today ๐โ๏ธโ๏ธ
Word of the Day: Today
Thank you for joining me today! Pour yourself your favorite beverage and letโs chat.
My favorite line from the Lord of the Rings is when King Aragon says, โA day may come when the courage of men fails, but it is not this day.โ
So, what day is it? For starters, this is the day the Lord has made. Iโve got this scripture referenced in the section below. For some of you, those words make you want to sing the song based on this scripture. Iโve got that link for you below as well.
For me, this is the day after my birthday. In recent years, Iโve started celebrating for up to week! Why not? Life is short. We donโt know what the future holds, so live wisely, but live each day to the full.
What day is it? It is the day to celebrate that I was fearfully and wonderfully made, as all of us have been! If you need a reminder of how valued you are, please read all of Psalm 139 today.
Happy birthday to me. June 13, 1960. I get asked often if I was born on a Friday just to discover how unlucky I am. Sorry to disappoint. I was born on a Monday. I came into the world in the Baby Boomer generation. A Rat in the Chinese zodiac. And the stars say I am a Gemini. The third child born into a preacherโs family. And probably an Enneagram 9 and definitely an introvert. Iโm sure that explains everything you need to know about me.
So far, my birthday week has included much family time including a visit to a nearby aquarium with all the grandkids, Mexican food, pizza, fruit pizza, purchasing new t-shirts from the nearby Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, and watching all the grandkids running amok around our backyard enjoying time together. And I received a new t-shirt and coffee mug from my sonโs new podcast, Faithfully Engaged. And one of my sister-friends sent me a coffee mug that says, โI just want to drink coffee and pet my dog.โ Yes. Yes I do.
Enjoying the beautiful Wichita Mountains with my family. The wildflowers are always brilliant.
And before the week is over, I will have enjoyed a coffee date with my daughter and a diabetic-friendly chocolate pie homemade by my daughter-in-law. I will have received lots of messages wishing me happiness and love from all over the world. That means Iโm a person who has much family and friends who are thankful for me. This is that day. To know how much Iโm loved. And as if that isnโt enough, my birthday ended with a delicious grilled steak dinner prepared by my sweet husband. Doesnโt get much better than that.
Thankful. Grateful. Abundantly blessed.
Wednesday in the Word
โThis is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.โ Psalm 118:24
โTeach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.โ Psalm 90:12
โThe thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.โ John 10:10
โFor you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherโs womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.โ Psalm 139: 13-14

A few years ago, when I turned 60, I decided to designate it as my birthday week, not just a day. It seemed like a momentous occasion turning that age so I thought, why not celebrate all week? If there is no stopping the turning of the calendar pages, why not embrace it?
Seems a bit indulgent. I know. Thatโs okโฆ

A Final Word
So how do you know if you are savoring the moments and seizing the day? Itโs when you tuck your granddaughters in bed at the end of an active, loud, exhausting, good day. Itโs when your three-year old granddaughter holds your hand. Itโs when your one year old grandson points his finger at you and just says my grandma name, โBebe.โ Itโs when your adult children sit around the family table on the deck and enjoy chatting and drinking coffee together.
Nothing big or earth-shattering. Just enjoying the moments together. Today.
How are you enjoying your moments today?

Thank you for all your birthday wishes this week.
Gratefully yours,
I celebrate the entire month of my birth. When I was working I always made sure that I wasn't scheduled to work on my birthday and the entire week before and after - I always jokingly say that it's a national holiday! ๐
Thanks for letting me know Patty. Definitely a needed resource. Lots of people in need of help.
