Good Word of the Day:
Hospitality
What do you think of when you hear this word? A dinner party? An invitation to someone’s clean home? Perfectly folded cloth napkins?
According to Wikipedia, hospitality is
“the relationship between a guest and a host, wherein the host receives the guest with some amount of goodwill, including the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.”
(Some amount of goodwill. What does that mean?)
In the online impersonal world in which we live, I think hospitality is sorely needed. We all want to be welcomed into someone’s home, share dinner or coffee and dessert.
When I think of hospitality, I immediately think of my mother. I’d love for you to pop over to my blog and read, “Come on in!” Stories for Global Good Blog
Wednesday in the Word
“When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
What Good Words are you reading in The Word lately?
A Good Word About Numbers
I’m obviously a word person. I don’t do numbers, if I can avoid it. That side of my brain doesn’t function properly. However, just this one time, I do have some good words about numbers.
3 — What are 3 things you are thankful/grateful for every day? Write them down. Share them, if appropriate. I think of 1 family or friend each day (and let them know) + 1 thing in nature that God made + 1 attribute of God that I praise Him for (and let Him know) .
30 — Minutes a day/5 days a week. Exercise. For me, that’s a walk in my neighborhood.
5 — Concentrate on one thing in your life each day for 5 days and pray specifically. I do this while I’m walking (see above).
Monday - Me (my schedule for the week, plans, health, etc.)
Tuesday - Family
Wednesday - Work
Thursday - The World (yes, the whole messy crazy world from my little town to the ends of the earth)
Friday - My church family (leaders as they prepare for Sunday worship; my Sunday small group; my little discipleship group; our purpose and mission)
Give it a try and let me know your good word about numbers. How is 3, 30 and 5 working for you?
Good Words I Recommend
A GOOD Recipe: To go along with our hospitality theme, try this recipe and invite someone over to enjoy it with you. My family loved this one this week: Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars. Yummy! Make a Mexican dish (we had chicken fajitas, guacamole, queso and chips) and serve this for dessert. Enjoy! Recipe: Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars
A GOOD Blog: Also, just for you, another thought about hospitality and how I remember it from my childhood- From the achieves, Who Is At Your Table Today?
A GOOD Graphic: A few words on being grateful.
A Final Word
I would love to hear from you! Really really. What is your favorite word? What is a good book you recommend? What is some good music you enjoy? You can share all of that and more here:
And, as always, share a good word with someone today — some of your own good words or forward this onward to your tribe.
See you next Wednesday. I’m grateful for you!

SOME hospitality - I like how some was in bold print. Like, "Come in! Make yourself comfortable, but not *too* comfortable because we go to bed at 9:00..
Also, I always think of Granny when I think of hospitality. ❤️
Love the Pooh Bear graphic. Funny bc I always just saw it as a sewing seam, but for the first time ever I realized... Heeeey, Winie the Pooh's got a butt crack...
And I *really* like the number 5 thing!!!!! I'm going to start doing that!!!!! Thanks! 😀
