Good Word of the Day: Create
“What is that pink doing there?” It was a question my four-year-old granddaughter asked her mommy one evening this week. As she stared at the Oklahoma sunset, she wondered why her favorite color was painting the sky. Interestingly, at that exact moment in time across town in my neighborhood, I was taking this photo as I was out walking. I was in awe of the creativity of God. He blessed us extravagantly with the beauty of nature. We only have to be aware. Stop. Ask the question. Take the photo. Share His creation. It is literally the first words of scripture:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
I think God shows off the best of His creativity in the Spring. It’s my favorite season. It is just starting to show itself:
Soon the green leaves will push through on the trees. Our Redbuds will be full of purple blooms before they turn green. Flowers are pushing up through the dirt to show off their brilliant colors to let us know winter is gone. Soon my deck planters will be full of the colors of spring and summer.
Another of God’s amazing gifts He has blessed us with is our ability to create. Genesis 1 also says. “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
“We create relationships, art, homes, cities, nations and many more things including inventions even yet to be known! The creative spirit is certainly favored by God and our fellow man.” Bible verses about creativity
There are many ways to express creativity. Of course, the one that brings me joy is through writing. What other ways has God gifted us to create something new?
Wednesday in the Word
“He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.” Exodus 35:35
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Good Unseen People
Several years ago, in my blog, I concluded an entry with these words:
I hesitated sharing this tender moment with you. But I did because I want you to think about creating your own altar in your own space in your own way. So there, in the quiet, you can escape the tyranny of text messages, and emails and the buzzing of your phone. I wish for you a time to worship privately, then to walk back into the realness of life prepared and at peace.

A Final Good Word
Touches of our creative God are everywhere. When I open the door in the mornings, I hear the birds loudly offering their morning songs. I see the Mourning Doves nesting in our Yaupon holly tree. But His most grand creation is us. You and me. Because we are made in His image, He made us unique. Gifted. Precious. This week, be aware of His creation and thank Him. This week, be aware of your giftedness and creatively share it. Let me know where you see God’s beauty this week.
Thank you for reading these words. I’m deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you. Jeremiah 30:2

Gratefully yours,
Its neat how being created in His image doesn't mean just physically. All those good feelings of fun and excitement that we have when we're being creative are probably pretty similar to what He feels, too. So, when I'm proud and excited and happy about something I made, I can turn it around and say, "This is how God feels about me, too."
