Before we discuss being different, let’s quickly revisit last week’s word: Perspective.
This was my perspective on Monday:
No, I didn’t have fancy eclipse glasses. I saw online photos of all the millions of people gazing at the sky in their cute special-made lenses. Not me. I looked down instead of up. This was my view out my front door on my sidewalk and driveway. I love all the blends of dark and light shadows of the crescent sun and moon. The changing light of the sun filtered through our trees. Johnny noted that it looked like a charcoal drawing. It truly did look like an artist had worked hours masterfully creating a work of art blending shades of dark and light. In this case, the artist was the Master Artist. And once again, my unique perspective of God’s creation in those few moments of eclipse renewed my sense of awe and wonder. What was your perspective of the eclipse?
Now… onward…
Good Word of the Day: Different
We don’t really want to be different, do we? Most of us don’t want to be labeled as odd, different, weird. Yet, that’s the definition of the word “holy.”
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16
God is looking for people willing to be set apart for His use. We need to be willing to stand out and stand up to be brave enough to be different than others. It means in everyday life that our conversations reflect God’s holiness. It means honoring him in our choices, our words, our lifestyle. It means offering love to a world in desperate need of knowing and seeing what true love is.
Holy living isn’t easy. It is a daily choice. It’s our calling to be different. How do we practically do that? How do you choose to be different?
Wednesday in the Word
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4).
“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.” (2 Timothy 1:9).

A Final Good Word
Last Sunday, I asked my Bible study group — “Would our city notice if our church suddenly disappeared?” We are studying through Romans and in chapter 13, Paul is urging the church to make a difference in their world by loving their neighbors. “Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law…. Let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.” We talked about how we can be light in our city by loving our neighbors in practical ways and meeting real needs. What are some of the ways we can live differently in a way that others see the light of Christ in us?
Thank you for reading these words. I’m deeply honored to share this time with you each week.

Gratefully yours,
Beautiful eclipse perspective:) I noticed how the overcast darkness around me was actually backlit. He reminded me of stillness and hope that I find in His presence.
