A Good Word Wednesday #91 CALLED ๐๐ณ๐ฒ
A little bit of goodness for you each Wednesday
Good Word of the Day: Called
โWhat do you do?โ
โIโm a full-time writer!โ
Writerโs know itโs a big deal to own who you are and let the world know it too.
Feels good to say it and to be it. And yet, why do it? Heaven knows it doesnโt pay very well (or at all sometimes). Itโs scary to write words and wonder if anyone reads them. Or if anyone cares. But writers write. Itโs what we do. Because we are driven to. We have to.
โWhatever else the writing life offers, nothing compares with the dream of actually changing lives with words.โ Writing for the Soul, Jerry Jenkins
For me, it began as a love for reading. Some of my first memories as a child were when my brother and sister were both in school and I was home alone with Mama all day. The doorbell would ring and the mailman had a box for us. (In the world when there was no Amazon, this was a very big deal.) The box label had my name printed on it. I knew what was inside. It was a brand new Dr. Seuss book. My mother had purchased a book subscription for me and once a month a book came to our home. Mama would read that book over. And over. And over. And that was just the first day I had the book. By the time my siblings got home from school, I could almost โreadโ the book myself to them. Loved it. The smell of the new pages. The bright colors and nonsensical characters. The warmth of sitting in my mamaโs lap as we turned the pages again and again.
It began as a love for words. And books. Through the years I have purchased and collected countless books. Given some away. Kept many. Still love the feel of a printed book in my hands.
This was just the beginning of my call to writing. When did you sense God calling you to do what you do?
Why do you do what you do?
Of course, one action all Christians are called to is to share the Good News. Itโs our common purpose. How are you living out this basic call to share the hope of Christ?
Wednesday in the Word
โThe one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.โ 1 Thessalonians 5:24
โHe called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.โ 2 Thessalonians 2:14
โTherefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.โ Matthew 28:19-20

This writing life of mine โ itโs not blissful. It is hard, exhausting work. I sit at my messy desk every day and write the words. And I love living this writing life. Nowโฆ. back to workโฆ right after I take the dogs outside.

Good Words I Recommend
A Good Book: The Call: Finding and Fulfilling Godโs Purpose for Your Life, Os Guinness. Why am I here? What is God's call in my life? How do I fit God's call with my own individuality? How should God's calling affect my career, my plans for the future, and my concepts of success?

A Good Music Video: Let My Life Be Worship, Jenn Johnson
A Final Good Word
It all boils down to, (not just because I feel like I would explode if I didnโt get words from my head to my fingers and to the keyboard or my journal) โฆ itโs a calling. God equips us all with unique gifts. Sometimes those gifts are not seen in a traditional job, but come out through nurturing children, or encouraging senior adults or making a cozy home for your family.
Thatโs where I find myself todayโฆ My callingโฆ My Whyโฆ People are hungry for hopeโฆ it fills me with great joy to send my words out into the world and both the hungry people and me are filled and satisfied.
Thank you for reading these words. Iโm deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
โThis is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: โWrite in a book all the words I have spoken to you. Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
I wanted to be a teacher and a missionary. That didn't happen although I get to use some of those skills as a mom and ambassador for Christ. Thanks for sharing more Good Words!
I am a called writer for Him too!
