A Good Word Wednesday #97 REFLECTION π ππ
A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday.
βAnxiety in a manβs heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.β Proverbs 12:25
Good Word of the Day: Reflection
Who did you spend the most time remembering on Memorial Day a few days ago?
I know this holiday was about reflecting on the lives of men and women who gave their all to ensure our freedom. Iβm truly grateful for their ultimate sacrifice and for their families who were left to mourn their loss. When Iβve visited Arlington Cemetery, the row after row of headstones is such an impactful visual reminder of those who have fought to assure our freedom as a nation.
But actually, what I spent my time reflecting on was family members who are now in heaven, especially my parents. My Daddyβs birthday would have been yesterday and it makes me miss him more during this time. And sometimes, it makes me ready to be where my parents are β enjoying heaven with Jesus. Can you imagine? (I know, this would be a great place to insert the sweet, but overdone, song βI Can Only Imagine.β)
But really. Think about it. With all the craziness and messiness that our world has become, wouldnβt it be lovely to be at peace and removed from this nonsense? When I read the headlines, and engage in conversations related to our current clueless society, I just pray, βLord, come quickly.β And then I think about all the people who donβt know Jesus and would be left forever in darkness. I pray, βLord, come quickly, but first let me make sure my loved ones are safe. First, send more servants into the world and rescue those in danger.β
I donβt know when the end will come for me. For my loved ones. For this world. For you. Itβs something to think about. And it is coming. Ready or not.
Sorry to be so morbid. But reflecting on those who have gone before tends to bring about these thoughts. I canβt imagine going through life without the light of Christ. The best thing about living in this day is knowing that I worship the Maker of the universe. And He knows the end of the story. And thatβs all that matters. Itβs my job, day after day, to reflect His light. I invite you to join me daily in dispelling the darkness.

A Final Good Word
Of course, the ultimate sacrifice a person gave was Jesus giving His life on the cross. For all of us β for βgoodβ people and those who are evil. For our family and for families on the other side of the world. For those we see and those we donβt.
βFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.β John 3:16
Let me hear from you this week. Whatβs on your mind? What are you reflecting on today? How can we reflect the light of Christ in a dark world?
Thank you for reading these words. Iβm deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
βThis is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: βWrite in a book all the words I have spoken to you. Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
