π A Good Word Wednesday #99 IDENTITY
A little bit of help, hope and goodness for you each Wednesday. πππ
βAnxiety in a manβs heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.β Proverbs 12:25
Good Word of the Day: Identity
Before we talk about Identity, I need your help. Our next Good Word will be post #100!! What do you think our Good Word should be next Wednesday?? Please let me know asap!
My favorite line from the Lord of the Rings is when King Aragon says:
βA day may come when the courage of men fails, but it is not this day.β
So, what day is it? For starters, this is the day the Lord has made. Iβve got this scripture referenced in the section below.
For me, this is the day before my birthday. In recent years, Iβve started celebrating for up to week! Why not? Life is short. We donβt know what the future holds, so live wisely, but live each day to the full.
What day is it? It is the day to celebrate that I was fearfully and wonderfully made, as all of us have been! If you need a reminder of how valued you are, please read all of Psalm 139 today.
Happy birthday to me tomorrow. I was born June 13, 1960. I get asked often if I was born on a Friday just to discover how unlucky I am. Sorry to disappoint. I was born on a Monday. I came into the world in the Baby Boomer generation. A Rat in the Chinese zodiac. And the stars say I am a Gemini. The third child born into a preacherβs family. And probably an Enneagram 9 and definitely an introvert. Iβm sure that explains everything you need to know about me. This is who I am. My identity.
In the Introduction to Unseen People, I write:
βGod values our entire being, not just our names. Sadly, many people donβt know of their worth, that they are priceless. We are all seen. Treasured. Loved. Thatβs who we are. You could even use those three words as your identifying descriptors. Seen. Treasured. Loved.
What three words would you to describe yourself? Whatβs your identity?
Wednesday in the Word
βThis is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.β Psalm 118:24
βTeach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.β Psalm 90:12
βThe thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.β John 10:10
βFor you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherβs womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.β Psalm 139: 13-14

Good Unseen People
I wrote the following for Stories for Global Good and posted it a few years ago:
A few years ago, when I turned 60, I decided to designate it as my birthday week, not just a day. It seemed like a momentous occasion turning that age so I thought, why not celebrate all week? If there is no stopping the turning of the calendar pages, why not embrace it?
Seems a bit indulgent. I know. Thatβs okβ¦

A Final Good Word
We hear a lot about identity theft these days. Some people want to steal who you are for their own personal gain. I enjoy my identity. I am a wife. Mother. Bebe. Friend. Writer. This is who I am. But mostly, I am the most loved treasured daughter of the King. No one can steal that! What are your favorite identifying titles?
Thank you for reading these words. Iβm deeply honored to share this time with you each week.
βThis is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: βWrite in a book all the words I have spoken to you. Jeremiah 30:2
Gratefully yours,
This may be too deep, but I think βfreedomβ would be a good word! Next Wednesday is Juneteenth, which is obviously a celebration of freedom. Then the 4th of July is around the corner, another celebration of freedom. Itβs something I believe all people value, but very few actually have experienced the freedom that comes with a relationship with Christ. βWhere the spirit of the Lord is there is freedomβ 2 Corinthians 3:17 There are lots of hymns and even contemporary worship songs you could use too! This may have been more info than you wanted, sorry! :)
