I've been reflecting on those recently gone and now with Christ. Trying to be an encouragement to those left behind and urging those who remain lost.

During Memorial Day Weekend, I thought a lot about my grandpas. They were part of The Last Great Generation. They fought in WWII. I also reflected on the sheer number of men who fought and died in WWII alone, let alone other other conflicts our country's been involved in. Its important to remember. My Grandma used to come by on Memorial Day and ask if us kids wanted to go out to the cemetary to decorate Papa Jack's grave. He died not too long after I was born, so I can't even remember him. But my Grandma would tell us about him when we went out there with her. She would remind us what he did in the war, where he fought, how and why the decision to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved his life, and a number of other things. I didn't realize what she was doing then, but now that she's gone I realize that she was teaching us to reflect on our grandpa's sacrifice; and now, thanks to her, I'll never forget him or what he did for our country, even though I have no physical recollection of him.

I think that's why, although there are many deep and salty passages in the Bible to chew on, its just as important to reflect on the simpler Bible Stories we were told growing up. We were taught them in a way we could understand as children so we would reflect on them as we grew older and wiser. And, actually, reflecting on them as adults reveals maybe not all of them were so simple after all. ❤️
